September: Cultural Olympiad begins after the 2008 Games
Top Ten Milestones for 2008
- Complete clearing of the Olympic Park site
- Cables supported by 52 pylons rerouted underground
- Main temporary roads and bridges providing safe and secure
access to the site built
- New water and energy systems serving the Park during and after
the London Games started
- Environmental and access improvements around the Olympic Park's
waterways started
- Transport improvements to open up East London and support the
2012 Games started
- Construction of bridge between the Aquatics Centre and Olympic
Stadium sites started
- Construction of the Olympic Village is expected to start in
summer
- Work on the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Velopark and
Media Centre in the Olympic Park and at venues outside London
started
- Plans for how the Park will be used after the 2012 Games well
advanced
