It's not just about sport or even just about young people; the
Games need to inspire everybody, young and old, to aim higher and
to be more ambitious.
The summer of the 2012 Games will be a unique experience for
everyone in Newham, but it is only one summer. We want to inspire
people to participate more in cultural and social life, in sports,
community activities, volunteering, learning, skills and
employment.
The London Borough of Newham's goal is for residents to be
inspired by the Games to live active, healthier and more prosperous
lives long after 2012. Providing everyone with new and exciting

live, work and stay.
So whether you want to get fit and healthy or volunteer at one of
Newham's events there is something for everyone. As part of the
programme there are six areas of focus:
Read how these six different ways to be inspired have been put into

story to share, why not email us at
inspiring.people@newham.gov.uk.
The Inspiring People programme is all about involving people in the
borough and allowing you to maximise your life opportunities. So
this is the perfect time to try something new to meet new people,
get active or help others.
