Newham Swords
The NSA also works with local clubs to deliver the stars of
tomorrow. The Newham Swords were set up in 2004 by Olympian Linda
Strachan with funding from London Borough of Newham.
In 2006, she realised that she had
taken them as far as she could with the funding available and
approached the NSA. Now in June 2009, the club has 2 boys in
ranked in the GB Cadet rankings, Amol Rattan who is 5th and
Alex Savin who is 7th.
Both fencers have represented both England and Great Britain this
year. Alex also competed in Paris earlier this year, beating 365
U15 boys from 23 countries to win the 2009 Paris CEP
Marathon.
Ife Kubler, 14, is on course to become Newham Swords first female
in the top 10 in the GB Cadet U17 rankings, she's currently ranked
20th.
