Nominate someone you know to carry the Olympic Flame

Do you know someone truly inspirational? Here's your opportunity to give them their moment to shine as a 2012 Olympic Games Torchbearer.

LOCOG - the London 2012 Organising Committee is looking for 8,000 truly inspirational volunteers to carry the Olympic Flame on its 70 day journey throughout the country.


Starting at Land's End on Saturday 19 May 2012, the Flame will visit locations across the UK before reaching London on Saturday 21 July in time for the opening ceremony.


Who can I nominate?


Anyone in the UK who has an incredible story that will inspire the millions of people who will be watching the Olympic Torch Relay. You can even nominate more than one person. Find out more about what makes a good nominee here.


How do I nominate?


Choose who you would like to nominate and check they are what LOCOG are looking for. Tell the person that you are nominating them, then complete the online 2012 Olympic Games Torchbearer application form. You will need to provide 150 words explaining why you think they are inspirational and deserve this opportunity.


How long have I got to make my nomination?


Nominations are now open. You have until 11.59pm on 29 June 2011.
