About the Contact Centre
The Contact Centre aims toward Customer Service Excellence. In
order to achieve this we make every effort to listen to what you
have to say and learning what you value. We have an automated
telephone answering system that enables you to quickly speak to one
of our officers.
We provide help with the following services:
- Council Tax
- Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
- Public Realm: refuse, special collection, abandoned vehicles,
rubbish and fly tipping, commercial and trade waste, street
lighting, street furniture, road and pavement repairs, road
crossings, guard rails, islands and bollards
- Housing Services: homelessness, housing advice and
lettings
- Newham Homes enquiries: community housing, rent charges, rent
arrears, racial harassment, right to buy, repairs, sheltered
housing, decent homes and Newham Network
- Social Services enquiries and referrals: Children and families,
adult mental health, learning difficulties, disabilities and ill
health services, applications for concessionary fares, registration
of disabilities, initial assessments and access to files and
welfare benefit advice

Our team of highly trained customer services officers will give
their names when answering the telephone. We are friendly, helpful
and sensitive to your needs. We are ready to help you with all your
enquiries, so please feel free to telephone us with your problems
or concerns. We may even be able to advise you of services you are
entitled to which you may be unaware of.
We can also offer help if English is not your first language. We
have Textphone and Type, and we can supply Braille and taped
information on demand if you require these.
