Claiming Housing Benefit in Newham

To get housing benefit you have to make a claim in writing on one of our claim forms.

You can claim Council Tax Benefit at the same time.

But note that the calculator will only estimate what you will be entitled to. It can't, for example, say whether your Housing Benefit will be based on a rent lower than the rent you actually pay. The best way to find out how much you will get is to make a claim.

The form looks long, but we need to ask a lot of questions to make sure everyone gets the right amount of benefit.
