Paying by Standing
Order
Standing Order is another
convenient way to pay regular bills such as housing rent and
Council Tax. You instruct your bank to pay a regular amount to the
Council or Newham Homes.
Standing Order has many advantages such as:
- no waiting in queues
- no writing or posting of cheques or postal orders
- no worries about forgetting to pay
- no need to carry large amounts of cash
How to pay by Standing Order
To pay your housing rent,
complete the Standing Order form.

on
020 8430 2000.
Important information
- You should allow extra days for your payment to go through the
clearing bank system.
- You will need to change the amount of your Standing Order each
time payments due to Council Tax or your housing rent change.
- You must quote the relevant reference number
for the bill you are paying, for example your rent, Council Tax or
Business Rates account number. This will be shown on your
bill.
- Always ensure that there is enough money in your account for
Standing Order payments. Most banks charge if a payment is not made
because you do not have enough money in your account.
