Half term message from the Mayor
The excitement of the London 2012 Games being held in Newham is a
fantastic opportunity to be inspired and get active this half term.
Newham Council has been working with local partners to ensure that
we inspire and motivate young people and their families to get out
and about around the borough to do more than ever before.
With more than 25 different free sessions in our fun-filled sports
programme for children and young people taking place across the
week, you have so much to choose from. Our activity programme
includes: Olympic sport, water sports, BMX biking, gym sessions,
family activities days, cricket, football, every day free swimming,
cheerleading, karate and much more.
Alongside, this we have a wealth of activities delivered by our
brilliant partners including Theatre Royal Stratford East, Discover
and Climb London, that will keep you and your family busy this half
term. I hope this page provides you with a great starting point to
get up and out this half term.

Activity Descriptions:-
*Mini Polo:
Mini Polo Stage 8 for all
swimmers who have completed NPTS Stage 7 or higher.
Mini-polo is based on the popular sport of Water Polo and teaches
the basic skills you need to participate. The 5 day intensive
course will cover skills such as treading water, travelling with
the ball and playing basic games as part of a team. Appropriate
swim suit and hat are required, goggles are not necessary.
**Aquafun:
Aquafun Stage 8 for all swimmers who have completed NPTS stage 7 or
higher.
Aquafun is based on the popular sports of synchronized swimming and
this course will teach you the basic skills you need to
participate. If you like gymnastics, dancing and swimming then this
is the course for you. Appropriate swim suit, hat and gogglesa are
required, nose clip is optional.

Free swimming every day of the week
Are you 16 years and under and love swimming? Well you will enjoy
it even more because swimming in the Leisure Centres in Newham is
FREE* 7 days a week. To take advantage of this offer you need to be
a member of your local leisure centre. Joining is easy - join at
your leisure centre (check with your centre for joining fee
charge).
- Times are indicated as Public Swimming sessions on our Pool
programmes
- You need to hold a Wellness Pay & Play membership to
participate in free swimming sessions.

Welcome to Monsterville
Discover and monster illustrators Sarah McIntyre (You can't Eat a
Princess), Neal Layton (Emily Browne) and Ed Vere (Mr Big) have
teamed up to give you an unbelievably hideous and funny experience.
This half-term, Discover will be transformed into Monsterville!
Step down into the murky depths of Discover and through the
wardrobe door into a strange and fantastic world of revoltingly
adorable monsters. Dare YOU hang out in Lolliplops Cafe? Drop in
Beauty and the Beast Salon and try on tentacle and eyeball wigs?
Leaf through the fiendishly foul books in the library, draw in the
ghoulish gallery and perform on the majestically monstrous
bandstand.
Play, smell and taste the scariest exhibition ever this summer and
PREPARE TO BE DISGUSTED!

Drop by and have fun making monsters from an array of gooey
