Study support

break

Support is available for schools to set up and develop additional opportunities for learning and personal development outside of normal school hours.

Our aim is to help raise achievement, improve young people's motivation, build their self-esteem and help them to become more effective learners.

Learning Community Services uses Quality in Study Support (QiSS) and Quality in Extended Schools (QES) kite marks as quality frameworks for schools, centres, projects and libraries they work with. These are national frameworks, as recommended by the DfES:

Playing for Success

We operate two Playing for Success (PfS) Study Support Centre at the East London Gymnastics Club and the West Ham United Football Club respectively and will be opening a third in the Aquatic Centre as part of the 2012 Olympic facilities and a study centre in the Stratford Shopping Centre in Autumn 2007 for older students.

For further details on the PfS intiative, please visit our PfS page on the Newham website.

The Jack Petchey Foundation

The Jack Petchey Foundation is donating every secondary student in Newham £10 towards study support provision. The funding is managed by Learning Community Services and is given out to schools to run quality study support provision to help raise standards in attainment and develop a positive attitude towards learning and school.
