benefits
There are several types of
financial assistance available to students.
- Education Maintenance
The
Education
Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment which is
intended to help with the day to day costs when you stay on at
school or college, such as travel, books and equipment for your
course. Your school or college can give your more information about
EMA (Education Maintainence Allowances).
- Support for
travel
Support for travel to further education colleges and school sixth
forms.
- Support for Adults with Mental Health
Needs
The Student Support Section provide some
financial support for adults with mental health needs who want to
follow a further education course to gain employment skills. These
students will be referred and supported in accessing this grant by
the borough's social care
Adult Mental Health team.
- Statutory Student support for Higher
Education
Support consists of
student
loans to cover maintenance and proportion of tuition fees.
