Whatever you're into there's something for everyone at your local youth zone or youth organisation.

The Youth Offer in Newham is all about young people getting involved and deciding what activities they want to do. Newham young people have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that are run in a safe and welcoming environment.

There are loads of activities that young people can get involved in. In addition to this many of these activities are not just fun and enjoyable but also help to develop your life skills as well as work towards achieving awards in a range of areas.

Whether you are thinking of going to college, university or into training you can get more information about what support you can get whether financial or just general help to find out what you want to do with your life.

The type of activities available can include but are not limited to:
sports, dance, filming, cookery, gardening, fitness gym, homework support, music technology, drama, someone to talk to, ICT, singing, arts and crafts, members committee, making friends, volunteering, working towards a recognised award, training and employment advice.

The activities take place in a range of places which include community centres and youth zones.


Youth Zones

There are four youth zones that provide a range of activity to young people within their local area.


Youth Information Advice Connexions Service

There are two Youth Information Advice Connexions Service centres within the borough who provide education, training and employment information advice, support and guidance to young people wanting help career decisions.

The borough is spilt in to nine community forum areas and there is a key youth centre near in each community forum area where young people can access a youth centre that provides a wide range of positive activities including:

Duke of Edinburgh awards, youth achievement awards, sports, music, arts and health workshops.

Many of the centres also have a range of equipment to support the centres' activities which include: ICT and media equipment, kitchen appliances, music technology equipment, indoor sports including football, basketball and table-tennis as well as equipped coffee bar and chill out areas.

There are also opportunities for young people to participate on residentials, trips out and volunteering.

Specialist Borough Wide Youth Provision:


There is specialist youth provision for young people with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities and for young women from a range of cultural backgrounds who are experiencing domestic violence, bullying and coercion.

Opportunities are also available for young people to develop conflict resolution skills and there are programmes for Looked After and unaccompanied young people, especially when they are also at risk of substance misuse.
