this summer and join Summer Step.
What is Summer Step?
Summer Step is a volunteering programme designed to give young
people the chance to challenge themselves, develop new skills,
build confidence, meet new people and make a difference to the
community.
The programme runs from June to September 2012 and includes a
two-week stay away from home and a six-week social action project,
which participants will develop and deliver in their
communities.

Interested in taking part?
Visit the Summer
Step website and register your interest and if you are one of
the first 50 people to sign up, you will receive a £10 top up phone
voucher, or a £10 iTunes voucher.
Your parents or guardians will be sent a consent form and a medical
form that must be returned as quickly as possible. You will then be
sent an email confirming your provisional place on the Summer Step
programme.
How much will it cost?
Participants are asked to fundraise £50 to help cover the costs of
the scheme. A handy fundraising guide is available to give you
hints and tips on how to raise this money.
To fully confirm your place you will need to return all your forms
and raise £50.
What's involved?
After a five day team adventure in the countryside and a community
themed residential week in London, you will continue to work in
teams to choose your social action project. This will bring to life
all the new skills you have learnt over the summer and help you to
make a real difference to the environment and your community.
Find out more about
what the programme involves on the Summer Steps website
At the end of the summer, the teams will get back together at a
celebration event to recognise all the wonderful things that have
been achieved and to reflect on the difference that the programme
has made.
You can start your Summer Step adventure on Monday 25 June or
Monday 2 July 2012.
Who runs the programme?
Summer Step is a National Citizen Service programme being delivered
in Lewisham, Lambeth, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich by Global
Action Plan, who are sponsored by Camelot.
