Chaperone
services
All children who are working in
employment, for example, playing in a band or similar in the
entertainment sector - must be accompanied by a
chaperone.
The law states that "the Chaperone is acting in loco
parentis and should exercise the care which a good parent might be
reasonably expected to give that child."
How to apply for a Chaperone Licence
If you wish to become a chaperone in Newham, you need to apply for
a Chaperone Licence. You can either:
You will need to provide the following:
- A completed application form together with two passport-sized
photographs
- Two references both on company headed paper, preferably
from an employer or someone who can provide a reference for your
care for children
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check
(confidential)
Once you have collected the necessary paperwork we
will an appointment to come to visit you at your home to collect
the forms, and to check your identification, whicn will be either
your passport or your birth certificate. You must also provide any
change of name documents.
Once all the checks have been satisfactorily completed a
Chaperone Licence will be issued.
Note: as several checks have to be made, the
time-span between the us receiving an application and the issuing
of a Chaperone Licence can take from between a couple of weeks to a
couple of months.
