The Education Welfare Service is committed to:

  • Keeping appointments
  • Being courteous
  • Informing you of your rights and responsibilities
  • Delivering a prompt and effective service
  • Responding to complaints according to council procedures and timescales
  • Operating within the equal opportunities policy of the council

In return we ask you to:

  • Work in partnership with your child's school
  • Let the school know of any absence promptly
  • Avoid using school days to take your child for trips, visits, shopping or holidays
  • Make sure your child is not illegally employed or exploited
  • Look out for signs that your child may be missing school without your knowledge
