Educational Psychology Service - what we do

break

We are involved in many areas of work, including learning, behaviour and social and emotional development.

We work closely with children and young people, parents and carers, teachers and a range of other professionals to support the overall development and progress of children and young people in Newham.

Whilst we may work directly with young people, we often become involved in helping the adults who work with children and young people, including parents and teachers, to work as effectively as possible. We can provide workshops for parents and INSET to schools and nurseries.

We work in a range of multidisciplinary contexts, with a wide range of different professionals from Education, Health and Social Services.

We also work at the level of organisations across a range of Local Education Authorities and community contexts. Our work might include, for example, supporting the Local Education Authority or schools and nurseries in developing policy and practice, research and evaluation activities.

All of our Educational Psychologists have a degree in psychology or its equivalent, have undertaken professional training in educational psychology and are all qualified and experienced teachers.
