Service
The Learning Support Service
assists schools in catering for specific learning needs.
The learning support service is based at the New
Tunmarsh Centre, Tunmarsh Lane, E13 9NB, and is made up of the
following teams:
Services provided include:
- Working with schools and early years settings to meet the needs
of pupils with complex learning difficulties by providing support,
advice and training
- Working with families to meet the needs of children and young
people with complex learning difficulties
- Working with other teams who deliver services to children and
young people with complex learning needs
- Delivering training to parents/ carers and staff from schools
and early years setting in a number of areas including:

- Signalong and approaches to communication
- Meeting the needs of children with severe learning
difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties,
dyslexia, visual impairment and those on the autistic
continuum
- British sign language ( BSL) and deaf awareness
- Disability awareness and equality issues
- Mobility and rehabilitation for children and young people with
visual impairment.
Schools normally contact the service about children who are of
school age, but parents of children aged 0-4 are welcome to contact
the service directly on 020 8430 4801.
