Are there different types of schools?
Yes, as well as the usual Local Authority (LA) Schools managed by us, there are
Voluntary Aided Schools
and
Voluntary Controlled Schools
. There are four types of school in Newham: Community; Voluntary Controlled (where the Local Authority sets the admission criteria); Foundation; and Voluntary Aided (where the governing body of the school sets the admission criteria). In Newham
secondary schools
these are Stratford Foundation School, and two Catholic voluntary aided schools, St. Angela's Ursuline School and St. Bonaventure's Catholic Comprehensive School. You can get further details about schools from the
