Beckton Globe Library makeover

Renovation work is currently taking place at Beckton Globe Library as part of our commitment to providing better facilities for you. It will re-open in Spring 2012.

The council is transforming the way we deliver our services to ensure we provide the best quality and value for money for our residents.

We will be offering better access to services by giving you new ways to do business with the council.

As part of this transformation, we are investing in our libraries by refurbishing many of them and introducing enhanced self-service options for residents that will make your transactions quicker and easier. Work has recently been completed at Canning Town Library and will soon be taking place at Stratford Library.

The refurbished library will provide:
-  compact self serve kiosks that will make payments and service booking easier and quicker
- quick access to services and information based around your needs
- the same free family events programme
- 22 computers (eight more than previous)
- bright modern facilities which make the most of the space.

During this time a full library service, including free internet access, can be accessed at any of Newham's other libraries.

Activities at Beckton Globe Library

• Toy Library - Every Monday 10am-12 noon and every Thursday 1pm-3pm. Open to children under 5 with their parents/carers.
• Homework Club - Tuesdays during school term 4pm-6pm for 7-14 year olds. Bring your homework along for support and advice.
• Storytelling - Every Friday 10-11am. Stories, rhyme and crafts for children under 5 and their parents/carers.
• Messy Play - Tuesdays during school term 1.30pm-2.30pm.
  Open to children under 5 with their parents/carers.
• Over 50s Club - Every Tuesday 9.45-11.45am. Enjoy a range of activities for the over 50s.
• Over 50s Reading Group - Every Tuesday of the month 9.45-11.45am. Explore the pleasure of reading in friendly environment. Part of the Over 50's Club.
• Knit and Natter Group - Every Wednesday 10am-12 noon. Open to all ages especially if you enjoy creating new things from knitting, crocheting or any other craft.
