Library services for
people with disabilities
To ensure that our library
services can be enjoyed by as many people as possible, all of
Newham's libraries have level access or a ramp from the street ,
lifts to the upper floors at Beckton and Stratford libraries and
the majority of our buildings have disabled access
toilets.
Free services
All services for those with disabilities are free.
Do you have difficulty seeing?
If you are visually impaired we can assist by
offering:
- adult, teen and children's large print and talking
books
- children's braille books (collection currently at Stratford
Library)
- reading aids, such as magnifiers and video caption
readers.
All of our libraries computers have magnification and voice
software for the internet.
Canning Town and Stratford Library have dolphin supernova software
to allow easier word processing and internet use.
Do you have difficulty getting to the
library?
We offer a
Home Reader Service.
If you can't get to a library, perhaps because you are elderly,
disabled or a full time carer you can join our Home Reader Service.
We can deliver books, CDs, DVDs and information directly to your
door.
For more information about the Home Reader Service call 020 8586
