Welcome to the outdoor
classroom
Parks are a great place to learn
about the environment, your local heritage and discover the wide
variety of fantastic wildlife and flowers.
Newham's parks offer a full range of opportunities for
people to learn and explore the outdoors. You can organise a school
or group visit, go on a park walk and talk, or take a self-guided
stroll along a tree trail in
Central
Park and
Beckton
District Park.
If you would like to organise a school visit to one of Newham's
parks, we can provide a range of options, which can be adapted to
suit any year group of pupils, both primary and
secondary.
Option 1
School uses a park informally as an outdoor classroom. Dependent
on park, facilities may be limited, for example no toilets.
Find
out what facilities are available at each park here.
Please forward all queries to
parks@newham.gov.uk.
Option 2
School uses either
Central
Park or
Forest Lane Park informally as an outdoor classroom.
Information
about these parks can be found here.
Option 3
Schools can book workshops at either
Forest Lane Park or
Central
Park. Sessions are divided into morning (9.30am - 12noon) and
afternoon (12.30pm -3pm), Monday - Wednesday only.
With the sessions schools will:
- have access to the Forest Lane Lodge which can be used as a
base / classroom

identification guides, microscopes.
