London Youth Games

Newham has a rich London Youth
Games history, boasting two London Youth Games Hall of Fame
inductees within its alumni.
Olympic 400m gold medalist Christine Ohuruogu and
100-times capped England netball player Amanda Newton both competed
for Newham in netball at the London Youth Games.
The borough has an excellent reputation across a wide variety of
sports from basketball to fencing. Newham have won fencing gold at
the 2009, 2010 and 2011 London Youth Games

Community Forum Competitions
Newham Community Forum competitions, are FREE sporting competitions
that include football five a side, sprints, badminton and
basketball. They are open to anyone who lives, work or studies in
the borough. They are for all ages and from beginners to elite.
There are Heat competitions that run in the borough with the
winners of the area competitions coming together for a grand final
at one venue in the borough.
FREE Sport and activity days
Various one off days that run throughout the year that target
specific groups including the over 50s, disability groups and women
and girls. The days run a number of different taster sport and
physical activity sessions for people to try out at Newham Leisure
Centre. Sessions including badminton, dance, netball, table tennis,
walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair
basketball and many more.
