Newham's Volunteers Sports Programme

The Newham volunteers team have introduced a new area into their programme to increase, identify and develop volunteer participation within the sports club network in Newham. It focuses not only on offering fantastic opportunities to registered Newham volunteers to gain free coach education training, but also offers assistance to help gain coaching experience and furthering their skills in a number of different areas.

This sports volunteer programme endeavours to improve, enhance and develop sports clubs in Newham by recruiting and placing suitable volunteers into their clubs to carry out a number of important and significant roles. Role descriptions do not only focus on coaching, but also other roles such as marketing officer, health and safety officer, team managers, volunteer co-ordinators, umpires, officiators, inclusion officers and many more. We also assist with developing sports committees in order to manage these roles.

Criteria to access free coach education training:

  • you must be a Newham resident and have proof of address
  • you must be a registered Newham volunteer
  • you must have been on the volunteer programme for a minimum of one year
  • you must have attended at least five Newham events as a volunteer
  • you must attend the training if successful on this programme or you will not have any further access to free training in the future

  • you must submit these volunteer hours once completed, to the sports volunteer coordinator.
