Sport for young people with disabilities

break

We provide a number of sports and activities for young people with disabilities.

We have two after school clubs that cater for young people, aged 11-16 years, with special educational needs (SEN) & disabilities. The clubs offer free sports and activities such as football, basketball, and dance.

The project is delivered in partnership with Brampton Manor School and Eastlea Community School and overseen by Community Sports Coaches.

Multi-Sports Club

Our after school multi-sports club delivered in partnership with Eastlea Community School caters for young people, aged 11-16 years, with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. The clubs offer free sports and activities such as football, basketball and dance.

Goalball in Newham Club

Goalball is a three-a-side team game developed for visually impaired players but it can also be played by individuals with full sight. Goalball has three main features that distinguish it from games played by sighted people:

  1. The ball contains internal bells, which enable players to hear the ball and locate it during play
  2. The game is played on a court or play area with tactile markings to enable players to determine where they are on the court.
  3. All players wear blacked out goggles or eyeshades to ensure that all players play on an equal level.
