Services for young people in
Newham are centred around Shine our young people's sexual health
service.
For the 16 - 24 age
group:
Shine is a
friendly, free and fully confidential service for young people aged
24 and under, including under 16s. Shine runs free young people's
clinics in health centres and delivers
education and health promotion to young people
in schools, colleges and other venues. Shine welcomes all young
people including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
Shine runs five young people's contraceptive and sexual health
clinics in Newham. They provide young people
with:
- Advice and information on sexual health and relationships
- Contraception
- Condoms and C-Cards
- Emergency contraception
- Pregnancy testing
- You Test (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing)
- Counselling or one to one support
- Abortion information and referral

Services for this age group are centred around:
Both the GUM services and family planning clinics are accessed
by self referral, so there is no need for patients to be referred
by their GP.
