Can I specify the type of property that I want?

break

If I am in a group that might receive a direct offer, can I specify the type of property that I want and whether it is a council or housing association tenancy?

You may be offered any type of property unless a medical assessment has been carried out that has determined that you can only live in a particular type of home. Medical grounds will normally only be taken into account if they have been assessed by us before an offer of accommodation is made, so make sure you tell us about any illness or disability that will affect the type of property you can live in.

People in the Underoccupation Transfer Group, however, can choose the type of property they want.

You may be offered either a council or housing association property. Housing associations are non-profit making organisations, which provide homes for rent in a similar way to councils. The Council is able to nominate people for a large proportion of housing association properties when they become available for letting.

How do you work out what size property I can apply for?
