How is my registration
date calculated?
Your registration date is the date
when we first receive your Housing Registration Form. Your
registration date will be cancelled in the following
circumstances:
- If you are rehoused by a Council or another social
housing provider, such as a housing association. If you wish to
apply for a move from your new address, then you will have to make
a fresh application.
- If you become an owner of a property.
- If you move out of the borough and you do not have a local
connection with Newham.
- If you are a Council tenant, and you move to privately-rented
accommodation, or give up your tenancy to move in with friends or
relatives.
- If you do not reply to any reviews of the list that the Council
may, from time to time, conduct. We will usually write to you every
year to ask if you still wish to stay on the Housing Register. If
you do not reply to this letter, we will cancel your registration.
If you subsequently re-apply, your registration date will start
again and will not be backdated to the earlier date. If you had a
previous application that had been cancelled for this, or any
other, reason we will not generally reinstate you on the list with
your old registration date unless it can be proved that official
error has occurred.
Can I specify the type of property I want?
