HMO housing strategy
and policies
We aim to intervene in the HMO
sector in a fair and transparent way that ensures that the
council's resources are used most effectively to improve the
conditions that HMO tenants experience in Newham.
To underpin our aim to improve the standard of
accommodation within Newham's HMO sector, we have developed a draft
HMO Strategy that identifies our key priorities in our HMO work.
This strategy links to the council's Private Sector Housing
Strategy and Housing Strategy.
We also have adopted policies relating to enforcement that link to
our
Private Sector HMO Enforcement Policy specifically detailing
our approach to enforcement in HMO.
The HMO Enforcement Policy details how enforcement action will be
undertaken across all houses in multiple occupation, while our HMO
Licensing Policy and HMO Licensing - Fees and Charges Policy detail
specific approaches to HMO licensing.
