I want to leave, how
do I end my tenancy?
You cannot simply walk out or you
may have to pay rent arrears. You must notify your landlord and get
their agreement in writing if possible to avoid problems. The
length of notice will depend on your agreement.
You must:
- Notify your landlord with as much notice as possible (the
minimum notice should be on your tenancy agreement)
- Arrange a date for when you will leave and the last date of
occupation
- Provide your notice in writing to your landlord and keep a
copy
- Leave the place in the same condition you found it to get your
deposit back. (Wear and tear is not to be deducted from your
deposit)
