Rathbone Market -
development update
Excuse us while we change in
front of you.
Rathbone Market is at the heart of Newham Council's vision for
Canning Town and Custom House. A revitalised market is just one
part of the overall regeneration project. Other plans
include:
- shops and cafes
- community facilities
- better public access and
- new homes
Residents and visitiors to Canning Town cannot have failed to
notice the progress being made on the Rathbone Market development.
The image above shows the development as viewed from Canning Town
Station.
The redevelopment of Rathbone Market is being undertaken by the
Council's partners English Cities Fund (ECF).
The first phase of building works should be completed by August
2012 with 271 new homes built and new shops units being
created.
Ultimately the scheme will see a total of 650 new homes
built.
Throughout the construction works the market continues to
trade
as usual. Market dates are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday, so why not pay a visit. If you are interesting in trading
at the market contact the
Market's
Team.
