Newham Workplace - tender opportunities

break

Increasing the number of Newham residents in employment is one of the Mayor's top priorities.

All areas of the Council are looking at how they can help promote a local workforce. As well as providing opportunities for local residents to access sustainable employment, the Council believes there is great benefit for businesses to have access to a local skilled workforce.

Strategic Procurement have stepped up efforts to encourage organisations who win Council tenders to recruit local people via encouraging them to work with Workplace. Our goal is to use the Council's purchasing power to increase levels of employment in the borough.

Organisations bidding for tenders are now being introduced to Workplace in the early stages of the bidding process. As well as being promoted through NECTR, information about Workplace is included in Invitation to Tender packs and has been emailed to all our existing contractors.

Although this partnership work has only recently begun, Newham contractors Serco and Mansell have already successfully recruited staff via Workplace to work in horticultural and resident liaison roles.

Workplace can offer the following support to businesses:

  • A free recruitment service
  • Specialist recruitment programme
  • Upskilling current staff
