About
Newham
Newham Council is the local
authority responsible for providing public services and political
leadership within the London Borough of Newham.
Working with Newham Council is about making life better
for at least a quarter of a million people.
We employ around 5,000 staff in core Council Services and a
further 5,000 in Schools.
Over recent years the Council and its partners have developed a
vision for the future of Newham. Our vision is simply that we want
Newham to be a major business location and a place where people
will chose to live and work.
Newham has a young, vibrant, multi-cultural community and local
people are encouraged to be involved in decisions, about how the
Council is run.
Exciting things are happening in the borough, including being
one of the host boroughs to the 2012 Olympics. Regeneration
projects are also making Newham a better place to live, thanks to
the efforts we are making to improve the physical environment, and
it is also changing in other ways.
We want this success to continue. We are not complacent and know
that there is still a great deal to do to achieve our vision for
the borough. You have an important part to play - without
ambitious, good and committed staff we will not be able to go
forward.
