Hello and thank you for showing an
interest in Newham Legal Services.
I hope that the information which we have put together
for you provides you with an insight into the interesting work of
Legal Services and gives you an indication of the important role we
play within Newham Council.
Legal Services is part of Legal and Democratic Services in the
Council's Resources Directorate. Its lawyers and supporting staff
are specialists in all areas of the law as it affects local
government.
Legal Services' clients are Council Services and Newham Homes (the
Arms Length Company set up to manage the Council's housing stock).
We provide a cost effective, approachable and professional service,
which is tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
We fulfil an essential role in assisting clients in the better
performance of their functions, within statutory frameworks. In
addition, clients are represented in Court where necessary.
For a number of years we have successfully been accredited and
retained the Lexcel Award by the Law Society and the Investors in
People award.
In Legal Services we have a diverse workforce and along with the
rest of the Council we wish to continue to recruit and retain the
same aiming to reflect the composition of the borough. We hope that
you will be encouraged into applying for one of our roles as and
when they become available.
