About the Policy and
Performance Service
We are bringing together all of
our policy, performance and research staff across the council into
a new service, reporting to the Executive Director for
Resources.
We are taking this radical step to improve the impact and
quality of the work that we can deliver in the future. We want to
be better at meeting the challenge of the council's ambitious
service improvement agenda, as well as addressing national
programmes such as the introduction of the Comprehensive Area
Assessment.
The purpose of the Policy and Performance Service is to:
- enable the Council to understand whether the organisation is
doing the right activities to the required standard
- support and take a pro-active role in improvement and change
across the authority
- enable the Council to better understand its current and future
environment, and be ahead of the curve on upcoming opportunities
and pressures.
The new service will have around 100 posts, at a range of levels
from support staff up to senior managers who will be working
closely with the Council's Chief Executive and executive
directors.
It will offer support and challenge for the full range of the
Council's work, - including services for children and young people,
adults, the environment, community safety, housing and
regeneration. Policy and Performance staff will work closely with
managers in all parts of the council, and in some cases will be
embedded with these management teams.
The service will also be responsible for work with our partner
agencies through Newham's local strategic partnership.
Many of the people in the new service will be current council
staff, currently in the process of moving across to new roles.
However, we also want to take this opportunity to bring in new
talented people at all levels.
