I was delighted to be able to open the new early years building at East Ham's Vicarage School and help pupils to bury a time capsule to mark the occasion.

It's Spring festival season across all of our nine community forum areas and I have been out and about getting to see as many people as possible doing fun things together.

I was recently invited to celebrate the 100th birthday of Forest Gate resident Mrs Gladys McIntyre with her family and care staff from the Westgate Care Home.

Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, recently opened One Housing Group's Rick Roberts Way development, a new £49 million flagship mixed tenure scheme which will provide a range of affordable homes in Stratford in the lead up to the Olympics.

The Christmas lights switch on events provide a great opportunity to celebrate the start of the festive season, and this year it was particularly good to see so many local businesses trading at the craft fair in the courtyard at Stratford Town Hall.
