	The Mayor's Reading Guarantee Wednesday 23 November I was delighted to visit Elmhurst School and along with the Minister for Schools launch my Reading Guarantee programme.

	Playing Together event 7 May 2011 I'd like to congratulate all the Year 5 students who performed so well in the Playing Together event. I hope they enjoyed the day as much as I did and I wish them all the best as they continue to move forward with their music studies.
	Ground breaking event at Fife Road May 2011 It really was a pleasure to attend the opening ceremony to this major new investment project. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Fife Road scheme will develop over the coming months.
	Newham Together session at Beckton Globe 24 January 2011 It was good to see so many residents attend our Newham Together sessions in January and to respond in person to the issues raised. If you were unable to attend, you can still share your views by emailing mayor@newham.gov.uk.
	Visit to meet the School Council at North Beckton Primary School 18 January 2011 The School Council at North Beckton School certainly kept me on my toes during a recent question and answer session! It was such a pleasure to meet the pupils involved and I am very grateful for the gifts they kindly presented to me.
	East Ham Christmas lights switch on 4 December, 2010 A big thank you to everyone who braved the cold and came along to the Christmas light switch on in East Ham. I'd also like to say a special thanks to all the young musicians and school children who took part in the lantern procession for making the event such a success.
	Stratford Christmas lights switch on 3 December, 2010 The Christmas lights switch on events provide a great opportunity to celebrate the start of the festive season, and this year it was particularly good to see so many local businesses trading at the craft fair in the courtyard at Stratford Town Hall.
	Tour of Britain and Waterfront Festival 18 September, 2010 The Waterfront Festival gave us the chance to welcome the Tour of Britain to the borough as well as to have a great party in the Docks, with food, fireworks and fun for all.
	Under the Stars 26-29 August, 2010 When we first thought of having a music festival in Central Park over 10 years ago, I would never have believed it would turn into such a fantastic spectacle. This year over 42,000 of you enjoyed this fabulous free event. Roll on next year!
	Mayor's Newham Show 17-18 July, 2010 The Mayor's Newham Town Show is one of my favourite events of the year. It's great to see families having fun together and enjoying the huge range of activities on offer.
