My priorities

break

My contract with you (pdf) sets out how the council will address your priorities to make Newham a better place to live, work and stay.

It lists specific promises to you based around your five key areas of concern:

Number 1 On your side in tougher times - We want to help residents through the current tough times. We are working hard to make sure you're able to enjoy a better standard of living, while continuing to make major savings to ensure that every penny is spent on the services that are most important to you.

Number 2 Safer Newham - Safety remains a major concern and so we are investing more in making you safer in Newham. Safety is a basic right so we will never apologise for being tough on those who try to make the lives of the hard-working majority a misery.

Number 3 Clean and green neighbourhoods - I want everyone to feel pride in where we live, so we are continuing to invest in street staff, training and equipment to make sure our streets are cleaner and our green spaces are available to all.

Number 4 Opportunity for all - Newham is a place of opportunity, with major investments benefiting all residents from the Olympic Park and Stratford City in the north of the borough, down through the improvements in Canning Town and Custom House and on to the Royal Docks. I want to make sure that the residents of Newham benefit from this investment in terms of jobs, decent homes, opportunities for young people and modern high quality public services.

Number 5 Active and connected people - Newham should be a place where neighbours get together to enjoy themselves as part of a strong community. That's why I believe in communities doing things together and keeping active and healthy.
