Welcome from the
Mayor
Newham is a great place to live
and work. I am very proud to have been elected for a third term as
Mayor of the borough.
As one of only a few elected mayors in the country, I
am directly accountable to the people I serve. I am responsible for
shaping the vision of this borough and delivering on the things
that matter most to the residents of Newham, from education to
housing, street cleaning and parks.
As well as responsibility for council services within the borough,
as Mayor I also represent Newham to organisations and people
outside the borough, championing Newham's interests to Central
Government, the business sector and other public bodies.
I was very involved in the Bid that won London the 2012 Olympic
and Paralympic Games, but I am principally concerned to ensure that
there is a lasting legacy from the Games for the residents of
Newham. To help ensure this I serve on the Boards of several
organisations that are involved in staging the 2012 Olympic Games
and shaping the local legacy.
I have an ambitious vision for this borough, and that's because
Newham's people are ambitious and forward-looking too. I'm
determined to deliver the very best services and make sure local
people get the most out of the Olympics and regeneration of the
borough.

get in touch with me, I
want to know what you think.
