More than 1,200 people joined in the fun at the East Ham Spring Festival, which was the first of our Active Community Team events to be held this year.

Together with Richard Cherry, deputy chairman of Countryside Properties, and local councillors, I joined excited pupils from Keir Hardie Primary School to help them lay the first foundations for their new state-of-the-art building, which forms the heart of the Fife Road regeneration scheme in Custom House.

Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, recently opened One Housing Group's Rick Roberts Way development, a new £49 million flagship mixed tenure scheme which will provide a range of affordable homes in Stratford in the lead up to the Olympics.
