The main role of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee is to hold the Mayor to account, for example by scrutinising the forward plan and key policy documents.
Scrutiny is undertaken by councillors and acts as a check and balance on the Mayor, holding him to account for his decisions.
The 2007 Overview and Scrutiny annual report has now been published.
