Manor Park Community
Forum to target litter
Members of the Manor Park
Community Forum will be leading the charge to create a cleaner,
greener Newham, with an anti-litter campaign during
September.
In partnership with Newham Council they will hit the
streets to combat grime and encourage people to keep their
neighbourhood litter-free.
Farah Nazeer, chair of Manor Park Community Forum, said: "Cleaning
our community is high on the Forum's agenda and we hope that local
people will get behind our efforts. It is all about making our
neighbourhood a cleaner, greener place to live. We encourage
everyone to take part in this three-week campaign."
The Forum is calling for local residents to get involved in their
anti-litter activities. These will involve exploring where new
litter-bins can be installed. They will also sign up local fast
food premises to the council's Food on the Go code, which means
fast food outlets will do all they can to keep their premises
litter free.
They will also give out free chewing gum wraps at schools and
community centres, which make it easier for people to wrap and bin
disgarded gum. The latter two activities are part of a council-wide
anti-litter campaign.
From 10am to 1pm on Sunday September 17 the Forum will be taking
part in the ITV Big Clean-Up - a day of national anti-litter
action. Residents who want to get involved are encouraged to meet
at 10am at Manor Park Station in Station Road.
