Red Nose Day is here

March 15, 2007

It's one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK and people all over the borough are busy planning weird and wonderful events to bring in money for Comic Relief.
Red Nose Day 07 is this Friday March 16. There all kind of ways you can get involved through your school, college or workplace.

The council's Contact Centre in East Ham will be helping out on the night by collecting telephone donations. This year volunteers will also be taking payments over the internet. Last year, Newham collected more than £60,000.

For an easy and obvious way of showing your support, buy a red nose from Sainsbury's in Stratford, Beckton or East Ham or buy a t-shirt or baby bodysuit from TK Maxx in Beckton. The Comic Relief Does Little Britain Live DVD is also available from HMV, Sainsbury's and Woolworths for just £5 with £3 from each sale going to Comic Relief.

Visit www.rednoseday.com/onlinedonation to make a donation. Just £30 will buy clothes and toys for children in the UK who are left with nothing after being forced to flee their home because of domestic violence.
