Mayor Sir Robin Wales and interim chief executive
Chris Wood will join a procession at 10.40am from Newham Town Hall
to Central Park in High Street South, East Ham, where a
service will be held at the cenotaph.
It will be conducted by the Royal British Legion padre the Rev
Peter Turner and include a two-gun volley at 11am to mark
the beginning and end of two minutes silence.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Christine Bowden and assistant
chief executive Martin Lewis will attend the
service at St Luke's Church in Tarling Road, Canning Town,
at 10.30am.
Civic Ambassador Councillor Omana Gangadharan will be at
All Saints West Ham Parish Church, Church Street, Stratford, from
10.45am, along with the council's interim director of
children and young people services Liz Graham.
Deputy Civic Ambassador Councillor Akbar Chaudhary and
executive director of the 2012 unit Norman Turner will go to the
service at St Mark's Memorial in Factory Road, Silvertown, for a
service at 10.45am. It follows a parade from the
Royal British Legion base in Constance Street at
10.30am.
Mayor Sir Robin Wales said: "Thousands of men and women from
around the UK put their lives at risk to fight for their country's
causes and sadly some are killed in the line of duty.
"We will be paying homage to them and those from generations
past who have died defending others. Their bravery is to be admired
and respected. We must never forget what they have done for
us." |
