East Ham's Healthy Saturday

June 27, 2008

People of all ages can get a free summer health boost at the East Ham community forum health fair on Saturday, July 5 from 11am to 2pm.

The event, which is at Flanders Community Centre on Napier Road, is the place to be for a free health check-up, fun activities and expert advice.

Community lead councillor for East Ham, Lakmini Shah, said: "Personal health and wellbeing is something we all need to think about. This event is a fun way for people to learn about a range of things from keeping fit to stopping smoking."

In the sports zone people will have the chance to try belly dancing, low-impact exercise for over 50s, martial arts, ballroom dancing and get basketball tips from the Newham All Stars Sports Academy.

The nutrition and holistic treatment zone will offer healthy cooking and lunchbox demonstrations, natural therapies and a fresh juice bar.

For those thirsty for knowledge the information and advice zone will provide tips on how to fight the flab and exercise for fun.

People can also speak to the experts about heart disease, cancer awareness, stopping smoking, managing a health condition and many other topics.

The event is hosted by East Ham community forum and its active community team.
