The event was the culmination of heats in each forum area
where more than 3,000 young people and adults took part.
At the grand final, 432 competitors showed off their five-a-side
fancy footwork before the encouraging cheers of more than 2,000
spectators.
Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, said: "The response to this
competition has been phenomenal and I was impressed with the
enthusiasm and skill level of players. For local people to play at
West Ham United is something special and we're very grateful for
their support."
Winners in the eight to 11 year-old mixed girls and boys were
Real Ma Kidz from Green Street, with the 12 to 14 year-old boys
category taken by TMT from Stratford and West Ham.
The 12 to 16 year-old girls category saw East Ham's Newham
Raiders scoop first prize, while the 15 to 17 year-old boys was won
by All Stars from Custom House and Canning Town.
Green Street's Newham Ladies were victorious in the women's
category and Genesis from Custom House and Canning Town triumphed
in the men's competition.
Laura Bryant, 29, played in the winning women's team and said: "It
was amazing to play at West Ham because I'm a huge fan. To go in
the changing room and run out of the tunnel was such a privilege.
The whole tournament was a real buzz."
Competitors received prizes including trophies, medals,
T-shirts, MP3 players and sports goods.
The Women's FA Cup and the FA Community Shield were on show at the
event and proved popular for people to take photographs.
The final also featured health MOTs and rousing entertainment
from the Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders, based in Custom House.
The football tournament was the sixth in a series of community
forum sports challenges.
