LIVE LIFE in Stratford Park

May 14, 2008

Building work on the UK's first covered floodlight multi use games area and jogging track is well under way in Stratford Park.

Jointly funded by Newham Council, the London Development Agency and Sport England completion of the games area is scheduled for July when it will open for all to enjoy football and other sporting activities.

Use of the games area will be free of charge and it is designed to be used in all weathers, by all age groups and will be open year round.

The games area is just one of many LIVE LIFE initiatives that the council have introduced to encourage the whole community to get involved in sport and physical activity and improve sporting facilities in the borough.

Once construction of the games area is complete the council will organise activities at the site for the community to try out the new facilities.

Executive Member for Culture, Councillor Jo Corbett visited the park to tour the construction site and find out more about the facilities. She said: "The potential for these facilities is tremendous. People of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy this unique games area all year round - and best of all it's absolutely free!"
