Royal Docks to welcome emergency services

July 23, 2008

People of all ages can tour the inside of an ambulance and meet their local police officers and fire-fighters at a free Royal Docks community forum safety event.
Respect your emergency services is on Saturday, August 2 from 11am to 3pm at Britannia Village Green, Silvertown.

This is an opportunity for people to find out about the work of our emergency teams, including the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and the Fire Service.

Community lead councillor for Royal Docks, Pat Murphy, said: "Our emergency teams do an honourable job. This event is an ideal chance for people to ask questions and get advice from the experts."

At the event people can meet the Royal Docks Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team and get information about Neighbourhood Watch.

Fight for Peace Academy, which runs a violence prevention programme for young people, will do a martial arts and boxing demonstration and also teach people a few moves.

Children can bring their bicycle for a free safety check by Bike Works and enjoy fun activities including inflatable sports games, a bouncy castle and face painting.

Royal Docks community forum is one of nine forums in Newham working to make each area a safer, healthier and more interesting place to live.
