Newham Council is helping local businesses survive tough financial times by bringing business opportunities directly to them.

An upcoming Meet the Buyer event will see a range of major organisations in the borough gather to hear about procurement development within the council.

Representatives from the Olympic Delivery Authority, ExCeL, London City Airport, the University of East London, Laing O'Rouke, Newham NHS and the council will also be announcing their upcoming contract opportunities.

The aim is to help businesses build networks with other companies and increase their confidence to sell more effectively.

Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales says it's part of his commitment to helping residents and businesses during troubling economic times.

He said: "Despite the economic slow-down that's happening across London and throughout the world, there are still many wonderful business opportunities here in Newham.

"The massive regeneration that's happening throughout the borough means it's important that local people get the full benefit of this.

"I'm committed to providing a range of services for residents when times get tough and this is just one way we're helping."

Meet the Buyer is being held at West Ham United Football Club on Thursday 2nd July from 1.30pm - 4.30pm and then repeated from 4.30pm - 8.30pm.

To reserve a place at the event please contact Jean Coleman at: jean.coleman@newham.gov.uk or 020 3733 8485.
