Good Friday to see
Rathbone Market in full swing
Residents are invited to
experience the traditional Rathbone Market at its finest on Good
Friday.
Newham Council is hosting the Good Friday market in
Canning Town on April 10, which has been successfully running for
more than 50 years.
Senior lead member for Custom House and Canning Town, Councillor
Paul Schafer, said: "The Good Friday market has been going for a
long while and it's great to see that we are keeping up the
tradition. It brings life to the area and connects the community.
We hope to see residents from around the borough come along."
From 9am to 6pm, visitors can expect more than a hundred stalls
offering a variety of items including clothing, jewellery,
cosmetics and household goods, bric-a-brac, flowers and pot plants,
plus a variety of food.
The Three Mills Association, which is a local group of crafters,
will have a variety of stalls selling original goods such as hand
painted glass items, leather wallets, dolls clothes and handmade
cards.
Executive member for regeneration, Councillor Conor McAuley,
said: "We recognise that Rathbone Market is important to local
people and we are pleased that so many businesses are taking part
in the Good Friday market. A thriving market is key to our long
term vision for the area."
