Adult Learners Week kicks off this weekend with a range of activities to get adults out and about to learn new skills.

Every year, Adult Learners Week helps inspire thousands of people to see what learning could do for them, offering them the chance to catch up on skills they've missed out on in the past, or develop new skills for the future.

Learning is good for your health and mind and it's a great way to stay active, healthy and motivated. So come along to a library near you and try something new. Whether it's finding a path back to work, learning to dance, or going back to school, there's something for everyone!

Executive Member for Culture, Councillor Jo Corbett, said: "Newham prides itself on communities doing things together, keeping active together and getting to know one another.

"Adult Learners Week offers the Newham residents exciting educational courses that are aimed to teach them new skills and boost their confidence at the same time.

"We're offering a wide range of free activities, including Pilates, Bollywood dance workshops, a computer maintenance course and Salsa dancing, to name just a few.

"It's not hard to change your lifestyle for the better. Getting active in the community is a great way to start.

More information on the courses can be found at www.alw.org.uk, or dropping into your local library.
