There'll be no signs of school holiday boredom in Newham with the borough's school holiday programme set to kick-off from May 26.

Whether you want to brush up on your football knowledge, take a turn at cheerleading or even if you fancy yourself as Newham's next top model, there's something for everyone and best of all, the entire programme is free.

Newham Mayor, Sir Robin Wales, said the activities are a good chance for young residents to get out in the community and meet new friends during their break from school.

"Newham does more than any other local authority to provide opportunities for people to get together have fun and be active.

"The School Holiday Programme offers the young people of Newham exciting educational courses that are aimed to teach them new skills and boost their confidence at the same time.

"We offer a wide range of free activities, including an African art workshop, a computer maintenance course and a theatre workshop, to name just a few.

"The programme is open to anyone who lives in Newham, goes to school in Newham or has a parent or carer working in the borough."

More information on the courses can be found at www.newham.com/whatson, by calling 020 8430 6528, or dropping into your local library, service centre or leisure centre to pick up a brochure.
