Improvements at East Ham local service centre

The local service centre (LSC) in Barking Road is undergoing refurbishment as part of Newham Council's commitment to providing better facilities for residents.
New chairs, telephones and repainting are just a few of the changes taking place to make the centre in Barking Road more user-friendly. The centre will be closed from Wednesday 8 September to Monday 4 October while the improvements take place.

During this time a temporary parking permit application office will be set up at Newham Town Hall, just a stone's throw from the LSC. Residents will be able to pay using credit or debit cards.

The refurbishment will make the centre brighter, more up-to-date and more accessible for disabled people.

Councillor Andrew Baikie, Newham's executive member for Housing and Customer Service, said: "We want people to receive the best and most welcoming standard of service possible and that is why these changes are taking place.

"We want to make sure visitors to our local service centres and libraries have the most comfortable, friendly and convenient surroundings we can provide."

While the East Ham office is closed people can use one of the other local service centres. These are:

The easiest, fastest and safest way for residents to pay for most council services and charges is online at www.newham.gov.uk, while rent payments can be made by visiting www.newhamhomes.com.

The council's telephone Contact Centre is also available from 8am to 8pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays to make payments and people can also use the council's website.
